Irish tea

Since I banned morning coffee from my life and switched it to tea, I have much more time to try new flavores. Today I'm drinking "Twilight-Irish Breakfast" with my scotch finger cookie. It is the best way to start a Samhain morning since it started as a Celtic celebration.
So Cheers to my dead ancestors, you are invited for a cup of tea.

P.S- I miss my teacups! I Need to find a Roy Kirkham collections in Perth or at least a true teacup.

Backpack for swimming lessons

Maya needs a new bag for her swimming lessons. It took me a whole week to decide what kind of bag I want to make, and I've chose a simple string backpack.
All you need is a two rectangle fabrics and two cords for the strings.
Maya asked for a mermaid bag so I've embroided one for her with my magnificent SE400 Brother sewing machine.
  Have a sunny Summer!

Time to recycle!

I'm in LOVE! It turns out that sewing tote bags is very easy so I've made another one. This time I used my old jeans and my daughters old pants. It is time to recycle!

Tote bag for Spring

On a beautiful spring day like today I like to go out with girls to the park. All I need in my bag is a bottle of water and a book, sometimes even my purse. But my usual bag is falling apart and not so comfortable as I like. I found this great tutorial of making one by my own. And here it is :-) fresh from the oven.

My Owls

I miss my owls. I miss making them for the little ones. I've just received all of my boxes And my watercolors are finally here. So here she is...My Snow Owl on a stone. Danu's owl.

And a new sketch of Barred Owl from today

A new banner

My sewing machine is here and working.
She is perfect! Thank you little elves for keeping her safe in the sea for two months.
My first project is a banner I wanted to make for so long. Most of embroidery designs are from Urban Threads  - a great site for embroidery lovers. So after 4 days of sewing and embroidering I finally made it.
And it is colorful and perfect!

Rose-Marie fairy

My crafts are my meditaion. I 'm feeling ill for couple of days, tired and nervous. Trying to take care of my self and girls. Chamomile tea with honey helps me to soothe my throat but only my crotchet hook helps me to relax. I like crotchet more then knitting because I feel I can sculpt anything with my crothet hook and not only making rows with knitting needles.

This time I've decided to make a healing fairy. I used Rosemary leaves from my garden in the filling for healing and Sugar Cane yarn for her colorful hair. The wings were the hard part in her making. I've tried 5 times to crochet her wings but it wasn't right as I wanted them. I made them purple, green and even mixed different yarns together but still it wasn't right. So I've decided to make them white with cotton yarn as her body. My emotional state is the major part of all my crafts and it took me couple of days to understand how to make these wings. The wings look slightly different. One wing is for healing the past and the other one is for healing the future. I stiffen the wings with cornstarch and she is ready! I called her Rose-Marie because of the rosemary herb I used in her making.

When my daughter saw her, she asked me to make one for her as well but with red hair and red dress. So another fairy is on the way.

May this fairy bring healing to my family.

The Great Jasmine

Silence...The only sound I hear right now is the rain outside. The scent of Summer rain in May is different, for it's not the scent of a fresh rain and wet earth, but that of drops of water and dusty air falling down. In spite of that, it still brings some serenity.

The kids are asleep and I finally have my alone time with my cup of tea. Tonight I am sippint my favorite one .The "Grand Jasmin Chun Feng" tea from Palais des Thès; the best tea store we have here. I've tried all types of Jasmine Green Tea in the store and many others but none of them ever given me satisfaction as this one does. Slightly bitter with tranquillizing smell, which transport me into meditation and stillness.

I started to prepare templates and fabrics for my "Magical Owl" workshop but after a second sip I'm already drifting away, thinking of rain and flowers.
Good night fairies, take care of my Lavender.

Another shade of Earl Grey

Tonight is a time for Apple Earl Grey Tea with pinch of Cinnamon, Clove and Ginger. A great tea with a great company. Feeling better already.

A Jorney with a Goddess

What could be better than a cup of English tea in the morning and burst of creativity.
I like to read books to my kids with Storyteller characters, especially when I create them myself . Our last storyteller was a Witch from the "Room on the Broom" by Julia Donaldson.

Today I've decided to add a new storyteller to our family - a hare called Luna .

Luna Moon comes to us from the book " Luna Moon Hare - a magical journey with the goddess" by Wendy Adrews, where she takes us through the Wheel of the Year and changing seasons. Moon Goddess guides her throught the year with faeries and mythical creatures. Today Luna Moon tells story of Goddess Rhiannon -  the goddess of love and desire, she is the bringer of flowers, love and fertility and a story of a May Queen and Oak King.

Our Luna Hare created with my gorgeous Brother Embroidery Machine , Urban Thread lace embroidery designWater sollution stabilizer ,some thread and real moonstone beads.

Fairytale from a tea spoon

One day I sat with my daughter in our local coffee shop. I drank my espresso and she her favourite orange juice with a cookie. As any 5 years old girl she got bored quickly and started to play with whatever was on the table. She build a full kingdom out of salt$pepper shakers, sugar bowl and spoons. This is how we got the idea of using wooden spoons as real characters in our make-belief world. So versatile and easy to make. You can use them to tell a story or even make a puppets theater.

What do you need?

Wooden spoons
Googly eyes (optional)
Piece of fabric
Colourful paper
Piece of yarn
Pencils
Scissors
School glue

The first thing my daughter made was her favourite fairytale character of course - The Little Mermaid.

Enjoy your imagination
